Modern-rustic cabin living between the Tetons and Jackson

The day is intentionally protected from over-scheduling. It creates room for a meaningful sunrise, relaxed exploration, and a dinner that feels like the centerpiece of the trip.
“Twenty years of building a life. Five days to pause and take in the view.”
Chris + Jessica · Jackson HoleAfter the morning float, drive north through the park: Oxbow Bend for Mount Moran reflections, Willow Flats for wildlife, Jackson Lake Lodge overlook, and Signal Mountain Summit Road for elevated views. Add Jenny Lake if time allows. Return south for golden-hour shooting. This fits naturally into the post-fishing afternoon without overcommitting energy.
With fishing until noon, a Yellowstone run is tight but possible if you leave immediately after the float and skip the cabin reset. You'd reach Old Faithful by ~2:30 PM and return to Fireside after dark (~9:30 PM). This is a very long day stacked on top of a morning float — only activate if Yellowstone is a must-do. Confirm road status before committing.
Primary wildlife lens for early and late light. Start with Auto ISO, f/2.8-f/5.6, and at least 1/1000 second. Move to 1/2000 or faster for action.
Keep it close for compressed mountain layers, wildlife with environmental context, and tighter barn compositions at Mormon Row.
Use for broad reflections, river bends, barns, cabin storytelling, and landscape scenes where the Teton range needs room to breathe.
Tripod, multiple batteries, extra memory cards, rain cover, lens cloths, binoculars, and a reliable nightly image-backup routine.
Half-day float trip for two. Pickup at Fireside Resort. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, weather layers, and camera. Snacks and beverages provided. Purchase fishing licenses in advance. Guide texts the evening before.
2.5-hour guided horseback ride with lunch through Bridger-Teton National Forest. Arrive by 10:30 AM. Bring long pants, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, and camera. No backpacks — saddle bags provided.
Use pullouts and remain in the vehicle when wildlife is close. The National Park Service advises visitors to stay 100 yards from bears. Do not create traffic hazards while scouting.
Mountain conditions can change rapidly. Refresh the forecast, road status, smoke conditions, and sunrise timing closer to each photo mission.
